Brief Profile of Islamic Help Pakistan:
Islamic Help Pakistan is a National NGO registered with Security & exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP). Since 2005, Islamic Help Pakistan has been committed to assist the needy people all over Pakistan. IHP is mainly active in Disaster Management, Social Protection, Water and Sanitation, Shelter and Settlement, Education, Community Physical Infrastructure and implementing a unique program for the rehabilitation of acid & burn victims in Pakistan.
Weve been constantly growing and learning through our involvement with the community. We responded in major humanitarian crises and consolidated our work to develop and empower the communities that we work with. After the earthquake 2005 in KP and AJK, Islamic Help Pakistan established galvanized(CGI) tent villages providing shelter to over 900 families and also worked with UN to provide corrugated iron sheets for the construction of over 800 homes in UC Bhairi and a further 1400 in Azad Kashmir and Balakot in KP. IH Pakistan also executed a good number of projects in various earthquake hit areas both in K.P and AJ&K in Health, Food Security, Shelters and Settlement sectors in relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction phases.
- IHP responded to cyclone hit coastal areas including some districts of Baluchistan in 2007.
- IHP also responded to the earthquake hit Ziarat in 2008 and executed many projects in relief phase.
- IHP also responded to IDP crises in 2009 and served both IDPs and returnees.
In response to July 2010 flood in Pakistan, IHP provided the affected families with safe drinking water, cooked food, food packages, shelter and medical aid in the form of three field hospitals and medicines.
Islamic Help Pakistan provided emergency primary health care services to 206,896 patients in all flood affected areas of Pakistan through different health interventions. World Health Organization has acknowledged IH Pakistan services in its health Bulletien 20 and 22 (Nov. 2010). IHP Established Inflatable Field Hospitals in Umerkot and Mobile Medical Camps in Rajanpur. It was equipped with latest diagnostic systems, labs, free medications and qualified doctors. WHO provided Cholera kits, rapid diagnostic test RD and anemic diagnostic equipments. Further; IHP restored and renovated Diarrhoea Treatment Center (DTC) at the Sukker Hospital, Feeding Centers Jati Thatta, RHC Gujrat Health Facilities, BHU Shaikh Umer – Muzaffar Garh, Tehsil Head Quarter Hospital Jati Thatta
100 Bed Field Hospital was successfully established in partnership with ARY, Ehsas and AlKhair Foundation. It is a 100 bed hospital at Kot Addu Sindh. It has 16 wards, 8 each for males and females. It has residential Blocks for Staff. It has an Ophthalmological Surgical Units.
Islamic Help Pakistan has been working with survivors of acid violence since 2009. Since then IHP provides support which includes reconstructive surgery, rehabilitation and initiatives to ensure with the social re-integration of survivors. IHPs work with survivors of acid violence is highlighted in the Oscar Award winning documentary Saving Face by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy.
IHP also responded after the 2010 flood in Rajanpur district whereby it provided food to 584 families for one month, rehabilitated 20 tube-wells, installed 484 hand pumps, provided mobile health services for two months and installed inflatable hospital in Tehsil Jampur and reconstructed three mosques. Since then we are present in Rajanpur district and working in WASH Sector on regular basis. Beside this, IHP also responded to the floods of 2012 and 2013. IHP field team provided food packages and cooked food to 500 families for initial 15 days in response to 2012 flood. Similarly, IHP distributed cooked food, clean drinking water and monthly food packages among 2391 families (17700 beneficiaries) in UC Jehanpur, UC Kotmithan, UC Aqilpur and UC Noorpur Machiwala of Tehsil Rajanpur in the relief phase of 2013 flood and also installed hand pumps in the designated IDPs camps. In addition, Islamic Help Pakistan also distributed Qurbani packages of 5 kg meat in 650 most vulnerable flood affected families of UC Jehanpur and UC Noorpur Machiwala on the auspicious occasion of Eid-Ul-Azha 2013. Moreover, Islamic Help Pakistan has implemented 2 RAPID funded projects in Rajanpur district including construction of 555 shelters and distribution of 3000 temporary shelter kits among the flood affected families with support of USAID/OFDA. Furthermore, Islamic Help Pakistan also successfully implemented UNOCHA-ERF funded winterized shelter kits distribution project in UC Harrand and UC Tal Shumali of Tehsil Jampur by providing humanitarian assistance to 1,028 flood affected communities of the district in response to 2013 flood.
Besides, Islamic Help Pakistan is also implementing its regular programs including social protection program for 965 orphans and their families through its internal funding in DI-Khan, Khyber Agency, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Rawlakot, Balakot, and Taxila as well as women empowerment program in Balakot in collaboration with skill development centre KP government for 1500 vulnerable women. Similarly, IHP is providing free education to 500 children in 9 colleges in Al-Hira community college in collaboration with Hazrat Sultan Baho Trust (HSBT) in DI-Khan, AJK, Jhang, Sahiwal, Khushab, Toba Tek Singh and Quetta respectively. Similarly, IHP is also running 7 schools by the name of Holy School Systems where 1600 students are getting free primary level education as well as IH is sponsoring 15 Islamic educational institutes by the names of Markaz-e-Taleem Ul Quran in collaboration with HSBT in Punjab and AJK. Moreover, IH has provided clean drinking water through installation of Reverse Osmosis (R.O) water purification plants, hand pumps and water wells in Dadu and Umerkot Sindh and PD-Khan Punjab thus benefitting thousands of beneficiaries.
